Celebrate culture and community at the Concord International Festival on October 1st

CONCORD NC (WBTV) – The City of Concord and El Puente Hispano are thrilled to welcome visitors and residents to downtown Concord for the second annual Concord International Festival on Saturday, October 1st. increase. In just 10 days, downtown Concord is a world away. A mosaic of various countries and cultures where you can experience food, music, dance, crafts, games, and more from around the world.

The festival will take place in downtown Concord on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, operating along Union Street and Cavallas Avenue. Live music and dance performances, cultural exhibits, arts and crafts, merchandise vendors, international food and drink, and a kids zone with world-class games. This year’s festival will feature over 60 of his vendors, representing over 40 countries and cultures. The Kids Zone features traditional games from countries such as China, Australia, Greece, England, Mexico, Israel, and India.

This year’s festival will also host a contest for the best cultural booth and traditional costume.Cultural booths do not sell products, but showcase their own country’s traditions and culture through ethnic elements and information. Booths will be judged based on creativity, impact and how well they present information about their country. El Puente Hispano is the prize sponsor. The 1st place booth will receive $500 and the 2nd place booth will receive $300. Representatives from Eli Lilly, the Elevation Church, Hispanic Federation, and the City of Concord will judge the booth.

There is also a $200 prize for the best traditional costume that all festival-goers are eligible to win!

Winners will be announced on the main stage at 5pm

Road Closed: To accommodate the festival, downtown Concord roads will be closed on Saturday, October 1st at 6am. Union Street will be closed northeast between Killarney Avenue and Corban Avenue. Caballas Avenue between Market Street Southwest and Church Street will be closed.Roads reopen at 7pm

parking: Free parking is available throughout downtown Concord, including the Brian Hiatt Municipal Parking Deck at 28 Cabarrus Ave W. The Union Street entrance to the Municipal Parking Deck is closed for the duration of the festival. Free parking is also available at the County Parking Deck at the corner of Coburn Avenue and Spring Street, the Bicentennial Parking Lot off Church Street and the County Parking Lot.
