Philadelphia – Sarah Redding A 58th-minute header gave the University of Pennsylvania a hard-fought point to start Ivy League play at Rhodes Field on Saturday afternoon. The seniors scored their first goal of the season after the Crimson took a 1–0 lead in the 57th minute, tying #16 Harvard in less than a minute.

The first half saw a total of 15 shots as the visiting Crimson had 12 of those 15 shots.
Penn and Harvard each had two shots in the first 16 minutes. Paige Kenton Saved a shot in the 7th minute.
Gradu made his first save of the day in the 16th minute, hitting the ball at the feet of Harvard’s leading scorer.
The match was locked in a scoreless tie, and after back-to-back corners for the red and blue, Maya Leshley Her header hit the keeper and appeared to give the Penns a 1-0 lead.

Lawton fired a shot from outside the top of the box in the 49th minute, which went just over the crossbar and landed behind the goal.
After two saves by Gradu, Harvard’s Sophie Hurst shot from outside the top of the box and slipped past the extended Gradu into the goal.

Harvard’s offense continued to put pressure on the Penn defense as they had four shots in the final 10 minutes, all four of which missed the mark.

The Quakers will be in their first Ivy Road game of the season (October 1) as they travel to Ithaca next weekend to face Cornell. Penn will soon turn around in his next match two days later (October 3) against Fairleigh Dickenson.
